Evening activity - Garbage Bag Fashion Show

The audience - and designers - waiting for the models to walk the walk.

Sonia won this competition - hands down!

Day 3 - Sleep in, ski/board, afternoon activities, and evening enginieering challenge/cooking workshop.

Yesterday students got to sleep in an extra hour - with a 8:30 wake up instead of the usual 7:30.  Although a couple of our kids didn't like the idea (wanting to get out on the slopes as early as possible) most needed and wanted the extra rest.  Many feeling a bit sore after two days of intense training on the slopes!

There was a choice of apres-ski opportunities, with one of them being a visit to the heated indoor swimming pool nearby in the Centre Sportif.  These are the pictures I posted below.  Others went into Verbier town - a 10-15 minute walk from Les Elfes.

In the evening, students had a choice between an engineering workshop - designing a long track for a rolling orange or learning to cook crepes (in French) or cookies (in English).  It sure smelled good around here.

Here is a rundown of what each skier is up to - and their thoughts on their progress so far.

Luca - as the only beginner snowboarder, Luca has his own instructor for the entire day. He is making good progress - falling down less and less - and has graduated to the higher slopes where the snow remains in very good shape for most of the day.  He is loving the one on one instruction and says he is learning a lot!

Jaegook, Hally, Sonia - Hally quickly jumped for the beginner skiers to the more experienced  group, joining this group - and keeping up well. All working on parallel skiing.  All smiles at the end of the day!

Chloe, Michael, Jaehyeok (with others from Dubai)- our beginner skiers - did their first red slope yesterday up in Savoleyres and doing quasi parallel turns already.  Having a blast. Transitioning from half plow to quasi-parallel.

Thomas and Jessica (with others from Dubai) -  Skiing all over the mountain, learning how to carve.  Thomas lost a ski once - had to walk - on one ski - down 100 m to fetch it!  Loving the mountain.

McKenzie, Matthew, and Lawson - our boarders extreme - all over the  mountain - covering quite a bit of it and really starting to get their boarding legs into shape!

Maxim, Lucas, and Rasmus - our fast and extreme-ish skiers - just the 3 of them with an instructor - starting to play a bit in the snow parks where the racers go!

Tomorrow will be the races for each group and level - followed by a barbeque for all Les Elfes students - so - we should be running into the Language trip kids there - up at Les Chaux!  I will be taking pictures of our group making their way down the slalom track!

The indoor pool - quite nicely constructed.
